Tucked within a modest 20-square-meter attic of a thirty-year-old townhouse in the heart of Hanoi, Gieo Space emerges as an intimate sanctuary for creativity. It is a place where ideas can be sown and nurtured, taking form as a photography studio, a cozy setting for workshops, a quiet corner for artistic reflection, or simply a serene room where friends gather and exchange inspiration.

The design draws on an East Asian minimalist sensibility, delicately balanced with the rustic charm of Vietnamese tradition and the refined simplicity of Scandinavian aesthetics. At the center of the room stands a raw wooden table, anchoring the space like a communal hearth. Around it unfolds a thoughtful arrangement of furniture collected from across Vietnam’s three regions, seamlessly woven together with newly crafted contemporary pieces. Wood, ceramics, bamboo, and fabric are brought into dialogue with abundant natural light, creating an atmosphere both warm and contemplative.

This combination evokes the intimacy of a multigenerational household, where heirlooms coexist with youthful creations, and where tradition and innovation speak to one another across time. Gieo Space feels like the imagination of a young artist rediscovering Vietnam’s heritage on their own terms: fluid, adaptive, and unafraid of change, yet deeply respectful of what came before. It is both a gesture of continuity and a celebration of reinvention.

Though modest in scale, Gieo Space aspires to be a gathering place for those who value art, beauty, and the enduring presence of tradition. It is not only a spark that kindles individual creativity but also a belief in the power of the collective—where inspiration is shared, nurtured, and carried outward into the community.
